Eric Wrubel, partner, chair of the Matrimonial Law Group and co-founder of the Fertility Law Group, will discuss evolving issues in the definition of a parent in New York with a panel of attorneys at the New York State Bar Association's Family Law Section Annual Meeting in New York on January 16, 2025.

 

 

In a landmark decision of the New York State Court of Appeals, Brooke S.B. v. Elizabeth A.C.C., Mr. Wrubel prevailed in having the Court overrule its prior bright-line rule defining a parent and thereby recognize that families are created in many ways, especially amongst the LGBTQ+ community where three parties are needed.
