Our Practice

The Matrimonial Group at Warshaw Burstein is devoted to helping LGBTQ individuals with their matrimonial and family law issues. The law in this area has undergone significant developments during the past ten years, and it is highly likely that the rights and obligations of those in LGBTQ relationships will remain in flux. As a result, it is imperative for LGBTQ individuals with matrimonial or family law issues to consult a highly skilled professional.

The partners in the LGBTQ Family Law Practice have extensive experience representing LGBTQ individuals in family law matters.  Our members have been at the forefront  of securing and expanding LGBTQ rights in this area. We have won or settled numerous cases and handled complex financial and custodial resolutions. Same-sex couples and individuals face many of the same issues as heterosexual couples (married and unmarried). However, critical differences do exist, and failing to address these distinctions could have adverse consequences for the client. Our extensive knowledge and involvement in same-sex matters provides us with the necessary skills to competently address:
  • Pre-Marital, Marital and Post-Marital Relationships
  • Crafting LGBTQ Relationship Agreements
  • Child Custody Issues
  • Child Support Issues
  • Dissolution of Non-Marital Relationships
  • Cross-Jurisdictional (Domestic and Foreign) Conflicts
